Black is built around locks, but betting is never risk-free. Here is what can go wrong, the limits you control, and where to get help any time.

A lock can still lose money
A lock is two bets sized so you keep money whichever side wins. That only holds when both bets go in at the prices on the card.
- Prices move. Sometimes in the seconds between your first bet and your second. If the second price is gone, you’re left holding one bet.
- Books limit accounts. A sportsbook can refuse a bet, cut your stake, void a bet after it’s placed, or limit your account. Any of these can turn a lock into a loss.
- Grades and lock percentages are estimates from our models, not promises about any game. Past results don’t predict future ones.
Only bet money you can afford to lose. Nothing in Black is a guarantee of profit or income.
Adults only
SBA Black is for people 21 and older, betting where sports betting is legal for them. Sportsbooks verify it too.
Your limits in Black
Set them in Black under COACH K › MY LIMITS. Black and Coach K keep them, and a cool-off reaches your Favor The Dog account too. A break you take at Favor The Dog, or an account the desk has closed there, counts in Black as well.
MY LIMITS
A daily total in play
The most new money you’ll put in play in a day, across both bets of every play, midnight to midnight on your clock. Black shows what’s left before you place a play and won’t size one past it, and Coach K won’t send you one. Bets you’ve already placed are always recorded, so nothing goes untracked.
Lowering it works at once. Raising it or turning it off takes 24 hours, so the limit you set with a clear head is the one that holds.
MY LIMITS
A cool-off
A break of 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. It can’t be undone early. Until it ends:
- Black shows you no plays and takes no new ones.
- Coach K goes quiet: no plays, no nudges, no alerts. Security and money notices, and replies from a person, still reach you.
- Your Favor The Dog account takes no bets.
Your money stays where it is. You can still withdraw from Favor The Dog and cash out in BUILD.
A longer break: close your Favor The Dog account
If a cool-off isn’t enough, the desk can close your Favor The Dog account when you ask. Email support@favorthedog.com from the address on your account and ask them to close it, or tell Coach K’s desk and someone will do it with you.
While it’s closed it takes no bets, and Black treats it as a break: no plays, and Coach K stays quiet.
You can ask any other sportsbook to exclude you too, and your state may run a self-exclusion list that covers every licensed sportsbook there. The helpline can walk you through it.
Signs worth noticing
- Betting more than you planned, or money you can’t afford to lose.
- Chasing a loss with a bigger bet.
- Borrowing to bet, or betting money meant for something else.
- Hiding your betting from people close to you.
- Feeling anxious or low when you’re not betting, or betting to escape.

If you tell Coach K that betting is weighing on you, he stops sending plays and nudges straight away, and someone from his desk reaches out.
